Inspired by real late night preacher TV and a trip to a Thrift Store looking for a suit that had a "Grand Old Opry" look

Thrift Store Suit

If you head out you should wait until morning
Lest you come back and I could be gone
But I thought you would listen before making up your mind
And if you called the cops you would not call them tonight

It should be obvious to you with all that we’ve been through
That what the working man makes no longer feeds two
And some things I can’t tell my Lord to his face
Till he promised me some extra measure of grace

In my thrift store suit
I have lost about everything I’m gonna lose
Walk around in my thrift store suit
You’re judging me and they are judging you now

I keep my head down and I duck inside
When the pastor’s wife shows up in their new ride
And I’ve got friends with friends, I got favors I saved
I wrote a number on a phonebook just in case I outgrow

my thrift store suit
I have lost about everything I’m gonna lose
Walking round in my thrift store suit
You’re judging me and they are judging you now

You know the righteous insure they get by just fine
And if you’d come to bed and be my alibi
Then you’d pay them your way, and I’d pay 'em mine
And we’d show up every Sunday right by your side

Wearing the thrift store suit
I have lost about everything I’m gonna lose
Walking round in my thrift store suit
You’re judging me and they are judging you now
